Scam Community Alert Message System (SCAMS)
Each year the Honolulu Police Department receives numerous complaints from people who have lost hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in a scam or fraudulent scheme. While most scams have been around for decades, others are new and use state-of-the-art technology. Regardless of the method, scams can wreak havoc with a person’s finances. The purpose of SCAMS is to inform and educate the public so that less people fall prey to seemingly legitimate business offers.
