DAGS Offers New Online Access to Subdivision and Shoreline Maps

last modified 2006-09-18 10:22

PRESS RELEASE - September 13, 2006

HONOLULU – The Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS) is now providing online access to more than 28,000 maps.

"This enhancement to the DAGS' website is part of the Lingle-Aiona Administration's ongoing effort to improve customer service and increase accessibility of public information, said State Comptroller Russ Saito.  “This should make a lot of people happy.  I’ve personally received complaints about long waits to review and receive copies of maps, as well as the charges for copies that are requested.  Now, requesters can avoid coming into the office and save time and effort by downloading electronic map files onto their personal computers for viewing and printing.”

A new Map Search page provides access to Land Court, File Plan and government subdivision plat maps.  The published maps are of those subdivisions statewide that were registered with the State of Hawaii from 1902 to the present.  This new feature is available online at http://dags.hawaii.gov/survey/search.php.

A new Shoreline Certification page provides a convenient tool that can be used in conjunction with The Environmental Notice published by the Department of Health Office of Environmental Quality Control.  Interested parties can now review proposed shoreline maps and color photographs included in current shoreline certification applications online at http://www.hawaii.gov/dags/survey/applications-for-shoreline-certification#apps.  Public input is invaluable in the shoreline review process and the new webpage facilitates participation in that process.
