Trade Missions
DBEDT leads Hawaii businesses on missions to Asia-Pacific countries to take advantage of business opportunities for Hawaii companies.
Overseas, both private- and public-sector needs are matched with Hawaii's capabilities through communications with government officials and businesspersons, particularly in the fields of real estate (development and investment), healthcare, education and training, energy (electricity development/transmission projects, renewables, etc.), the environment (urban planning, waste water treatment, etc.), agriculture (production, machinery, technology transfer, etc.), tourism (hotel management, consultancy services, etc.), and ocean resources (coastal zone management, pollution control, etc.).
In China and Taiwan, missions are facilitated by DBEDT staff at offices in Beijing and Taipei. In addition to serving as an information resource, staff can arrange seminars and other meetings to provide networking opportunities with local businesses and facilitate continued cooperation and dialogue following the missions.
The Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) welcomes proposals from private and public-sector organizations to plan, organize, promote, market and/or produce conferences, trade shows, trade missions and other events held locally, domestically and in international markets, especially China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
Should you be interested in sharing your project proposal with DBEDT, please send it to Tommilyn Soares, Strategic Marketing & Support Division, P.O. Box 2359, Honolulu, Hawaii 96804. We will review your submittal and keep it on file for future consideration.
