Abstract:: This dataset contains boat facilities located within the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from a larger data set that included boat facilities on the eight main Hawaiian Islands.
Purpose:: The purpose of this data set is to show boat facilities within the Waiane moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

This data set was clipped using ESRI ArcGIS to the Waianae moku from state shapefile entitled BoatingFacilities, which contained boating facility data for the eight main Hawaiian Islands.

The original data set was created as follows:

This dataset was generated using a variety of sources. The raster nautical charts were first reprojected from their original projection/datum to UTM Zone 4, NAD 83 using NOAA's Nautical Chart Reprojector v1.8.3. NOAA's ArcView ChartViewer extension was used to display the reprojected nautical charts in ArcView v3.2. Data points were then plotted using the individual nautical charts as base maps. The data was then merged into a single dataset/shapefile which covers the entire state. Completed December, 2002.
