Abstract:: This dataset shows the 600-foot (100 fathom) bathymetric contour needed to define the seaward boundary of Water Quality Classification Zones around the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from a dataset that shows the 600-foot bathymetric contour around the eight main Hawaiian Islands.
Purpose:: The purpose of this data set is to show the 600-foot bathymetric contour, which defines the seaward boundary of the Water Quality Classification Zones, around the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

This data set was clipped using ESRI ArcGIS to show only the 600-foot bathymetric contour line around the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from the state coverage entitled BATH600 that showed the 600-foot contour line around the eight main Hawaiian Islands.

The original data was created as follows: Compiled and digitized by Ogden Environmental in 1994 in Arc/Info version 6.1.2 using the Marine Atlas of the Hawaiian Islands by A.P. Balder, 1992. The process was supplemented with 600 foot contours on USGS quads, where available. Source maps varied in scale from 1:80,000 to 1:600,000, with RMS errors varying from .002 to .010.
