Abstract:

This dataset shows the location of golf courses (polygons as of 1993) in the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from a larger dataset that shows golf courses for the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.

Purpose:

The purpose of this data set is to show golf courses within the Waianae moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

Process_Description:

This data set was clipped using ESRI ArcGIS to show only the golf course locations within the Waianae moku. It was clipped from the state data layer entitled GOLF_1993 that shows golf courses for the Hawaiian Islands of Oahu, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, and Molokai.

The original data was created by Office of State Planning staff in 1994 using Krammer's Guide Golf Courses, Hawaiian Islands; TRW-REDI - Real Estate Information Service, 1993; OSP Golf Courses Development in Hawaii, Impacts and Policy Recommendations, 1992. The island of Kauai was digitized but never coded. Islands were merged into one layer, August, 2003.
