Abstract:

This dataset shows land use in the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu, based on tax class. It was created by clipping a property parcel data layer for Oahu to the Waianae area then joining the Real Property Assessment Tax Class (Pitt) Code Table to the data set, which gives parcel level data on a variety of characteristics.

Purpose:

The purpose of this data set is to show land use within the Waianae moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

Process_Description:

This data layer was created by clipping the state data layer Parcel to the Waianae area then joining the Real Property Assessment Tax Class (Pitt) Code Table to the data set, which contains parcel level data on a variety of characteristics including tax class. Tax class information was then used to derive parcel leve land use.

The original data was created by the City and County of Honolulu. The parcel layer was digitized from the hand drafted linen maps.digitizing, the line accuracy was checked by plotting all the tiles and comparing against the original drafted maps. The TMK was assigned to each polygon based on the Tax Map books, as produced by the Real Property Division of the Budget and FIscal Services Department.
