This dataset contains high school districts for the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from a larger data set that includes high school districts for the main Hawaiian Islands.

Purpose:

The purpose of this data set is to show high school districts in the Waiane moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

This data set was clipped using ESRI ArcGIS to show only the high school districts for the Waianae moku. It was clipped from the state coverage entitled highdist that displays high school districts for the main Hawaiian Islands.

The original file was created as follows: Downloaded original dataset, based on 2000 TIGER/line files, from www.geographynetwork.com. Merged all 5 counties into one layer using ArcView's Geoprocessing extension. Projected from decimal degrees to UTM Zone 4 using 'Hawaii Datums and Projections' extension in ArcView. Converted to Coverage using ArcToolBox. Revised layer, Nov. 2001: Removed slivers and added Admin (Administrative Area) field. August, 2002: Converted to double precision.
