Abstract:

This dataset shows public hunting areas within the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from a larger dataset that includes public hunting areas for Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Hawaii.

Purpose:

The purpose of this data set is to display public hunting areas for the Waianae moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

This data set was clipped using ESRI ArcGIS to show only the public hunting areas for the Waianae moku. It was clipped from the state coverage entitled HUNTAREAS that shows public hunting areas for the Hawaiian Islands of Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, and Oahu.

Compiled Nov., 2002 by SOH, DLNR, DOFAW from various sources including the Hawaii Administrative Rules, Title 13, DLNR, Subtitle 5, Forestry and Wildlife, Part 2, Wildlife, Chapters 122 and 123; C&C and GDSI parcel boundaries; as well as DRGs (Digital Raster Graphics); with input from and verification by State foresters and others familiar with the public hunting area boundaries.
