Description:

Abstract:: This dataset shows invasive species within the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu, as recorded by the Oahu Invasive Species Committee. It was clipped from a larger dataset that shows invasive species for the whole island of Oahu.
Purpose:: The purpose of this data set is to display invasive species within the Waianae moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.
Supplemental_Information:: From OISC: The Oahu Invasive Species Commitee (OISC) only tracks certain invasive species. They have a target list of about ten species that they are currently controlling. These are picked each year at their annual strategy meeting with considerations taken for threat level and the potential of successful control. They have treated and removed most of these species points and are continuing to do follow-up treatment on these sites.
This shapefile includes all of the OISC species points collected over the past three years (2001-2004) [although there are some older dates in the original dataset]. Unfortunately there is only dates for the most recent year, so some species points do not have dates. These points were taken prior to that.
