Abstract:: This dataset shows reserves, preserves, parks, etc. within the Waianae moku (traditional district) on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It was clipped from a larger dataset that includes reserves, preserves, and parks for Kauai, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Hawaii.
Purpose:: The purpose of this data set is to display reserves, preserves, and parks within the Waianae moku on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu. It is part of a larger effort to provide the Waianae community, located on the western side of Oahu, ecological and cultural spatial data to assist in their land and resource management efforts.

Process_Description:

This data set was clipped using ESRI ArcGIS to show only reserves, preserves, and parks within the Waianae moku. It was clipped from the state coverage entitled RESERVES that shows reserves within the Hawaiian Islands of Hawaii, Kauai, Lanai, Maui, Molokai, and Oahu.

The original file was compiled in 2002 by SOH, DLNR, DOFAW from various sources including the data provided by DSP and the C&C parcel boundaries with input from State foresters and others familiar with the reserve boundaries. The boundaries in these coverages are not final; they are updated frequently.
