ORMP Policy and Working GroupsThe CZM Program has obtained the support of the Governor, Executive Branch, and the Legislature for implementing the 2006 ORMP. Charged with coordinating the implementation of the ORMP, an Executive-level, multi-agency Policy Group was established in the summer of 2007 to oversee the implementation and further development of the plan. The CZM Program included State Civil Defense in that team to support the integration of coastal hazard mitigation strategies with local and state land use planning. A Working Group consisting of the managers and staff of the Executive group is the focus of ORMP implementation- they are tasked with coordinating their agency's implementation efforts. After prioritizing the ORMP management goals and strategic actions for their respective agencies, members developed two-year agency work plans to ensure the implementation of selected goals and actions. The Working Group will also identify budget requirements and will be developing legislative proposals to further support implementation efforts. The Working Group continues to meet monthly to streamline implementation and to further develop the ORMP. The Policy Group meets twice annually to recommit staff time and support for ORMP implementation, to guide the work of the Working Group, and to approve their work tasks and recommendations for next steps.
