What is Rebuild America?Rebuild America is a U.S. Department of Energy program made up of nearly 300 community organizations -- municipalities, state agencies, schools and universities, nonprofit organizations and businesses -- that have partnered with Rebuild America to save money by reducing energy consumption in both residential and commercial buildings. These "community partnerships" know their energy needs better than the federal government, so they're asked to tailor their energy-saving actions to local needs -- choosing which buildings to renovate, how much energy to save, and the best technologies to use. Rebuild America works with five market sectors:
Rebuild America starts with building renovations to make them more energy efficient, and expands from there to include renewable energy, green building design, energy education, and other innovative energy and resource conservation measures in a community. In the long run, communities benefit from revitalized neighborhoods and communities, improved schools, colleges, higher quality low-income housing, reduced pollution, and the positive economic impact brought by keeping energy dollars near home. |
