Honolulu--The Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) is conducting a special workshop focusing on accessing the more than 18 reports containing Hawaii specific data in the 2002 Economic Census for Hawaii.
Learning About Hawaii's Economy from the 2002 Economic Census, will be conducted Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the Keoni Ana Building (corner of Alakea and South Beretania Streets in downtown Honolulu).
Co-sponsored by DBEDT and the U.S. Census Bureau's LA Regional Office, the 3-hour workshop will be presented twice that day to accommodate participants.
"This census data benchmarks Hawaii's economic performance, and allows the business community to make informed decisions based on economic growth, development trends and demographic shifts," said DBEDT Director Theodore E. Liu.
This workshop will provide a foundation on how to use the 2002 Economic Census data.
Information to be presented includes:
- Recent Trends and Uses of the 2002 Economic Census Data
- North American Industry Classification System
- 2002 Economic Census Products
- Working with Economic Census Data on the Web
- Hawaii Economic Data from the Census Bureau (accessing various census data sources)
The presenter, Mr. Jerry Wong, is an Information Specialist with the Los Angeles Regional Office of the Census Bureau. Mr. Wong has 28 years of experience working with various groups on the uses of census data both in Hawaii as well as California.
Space is limited, so interested participants are urged to sign up soon for one of the two, 3-hour workshop sessions.
