Congratulations Offered to Hawaii's Grammy Winner

HONOLULU--DBEDT Director Theodore E. Liu today congratulated producers Daniel Ho, Paul Konwiser & Wayne Wong for winning the Best Hawaiian Music Album award at the 48th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. This is the second year that the Grammy Awards is presenting an award in this category.
Their album, "Masters Of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar - Vol. 1", which featured artists Daniel Ho, Cyril Pahinui, Ledward Kaapana, Keoki Kahumoku, Ozzie Kotani, George Kahumoku, Jr., and "Da Ukulele Boys" - Peter deAquino and Garrett Probst, was chosen from five nominated albums, four out of five of which were slack key guitar recordings.
"Everyone involved with the 'Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, Vol. I' compilation and the other outstanding nominees from Hawaii deserve tremendous praise for this prestigious achievement," Liu said. "The creative efforts and artistic contributions of each of the nominees as well as the many other talented artists, composers and others who work behind the scenes, have enriched us all. The entire music industry in Hawaii should take great pride in this award."
