HONOLULU--The Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) today announced its Patriot Import/Export Discount Program, which offers a 20 percent discount rate for six months on its full-service storage/warehouse facility to all active duty military, spouses and veteran-owned businesses that import dutiable merchandise, goods or components, used for export sales.

Foreign Trade Zone #9 has a 500,000 cubic foot secured, full-service warehouse located at Pier 2 in Honolulu Harbor. Companies may utilize any number of its full-service warehousing and storage services with up- to-date itemized inventory on their goods.

The Foreign-Trade Zone #9 will unveil this six-month promotion at the Veterans Outreach Program, being held at the O'ahu Veterans Center in Foster Village from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. on November 15, 2007.

"We are actively reaching out to Hawai‘i's veterans and military personnel who are, or have diversified into Hawai‘i's business economy by starting their own business," said DBEDT Director Theodore E. Liu. "This Foreign Trade Zone program can offer substantial savings to companies that import dutiable foreign goods."

The Foreign-Trade Zone is division of the State of Hawai‘i DBEDT office, and supports strengthening the import/export and manufacturers of Hawai‘i and the Maritime industry. The Foreign-Trade Zone is in support of advancing Hawai‘i's business and its relations through strong participation in public-private partnerships.
