Comprehensive DVD Contains 11 Years of Statistics

HONOLULU--The Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) has released a special version of the State of Hawai‘i Data Book in DVD format that contains 11 years of this publication in one convenient product.

"The DVD is the first of its kind and contains the State of Hawai‘i Data Books produced from 1996 through 2006," said DBEDT Director Theodore E. Liu.

The DVD may be purchased from the DBEDT Research and Economic Analysis Division, 250 South Hotel Street, Room 435, P.O. Box 2359, Honolulu, HI 96804, phone (808)586-2466. The price per DVD is $15.00 if purchased at DBEDT, $17 postpaid for first-class delivery in the U.S. (including Hawai‘i), to Canada and Mexico (both by airmail), and $18 airmail postpaid to all other countries. DBEDT has also released the 2006 Robert C. Schmitt Commemorative Edition of the State of Hawai‘i Data Book in printed form. This edition features several pages acknowledging Schmitt's historical significance to our state in addition to profusion of information relating to Hawai‘i. Schmitt worked with Hawai‘i statistics for 40 years. His interest in the data of Hawai‘i was a life long passion. It started with the 1962 Statistical Abstract of Hawai‘i that became the well-known and popular State of Hawai‘i Data Book.

A version of this 2006 Robert C. Schmitt Commemorative Edition Data Book was released earlier in electronic form. The commemorative edition is also available on the DBEDT web site at http://hawaii.gov/dbedt/info/economic/databook/db2006/db2006.pdf. Printing of the commemorative Data Book was made possible through a generous monetary donation by the family of the late Robert C. Schmitt. There are only a limited number of printed copies and the main recipients are libraries throughout the state.

DBEDT researchers have also produced the time-series data for many of the Data Book tables and they are now available on DBEDT website at: http://hawaii.gov/dbedt/info/economic/databook/Data_Book_time_series.
