DBEDT's Overseas Offices in Taipei & Beijing
The State of Hawaii Office in Beijing
Bo Wu, Executive Director
DBEDT’s Beijing office, headed by Executive Director Bo Wu, is positioned to take advantage of the many opportunities presented by one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. China has recognized the state’s expertise in tourism and other areas and is actively encouraging Hawaii firms to partner on a number of projects throughout the country, especially those related to the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, the World’s Fair in Shanghai in 2010 and economic and tourism development initiation in western China. Moreover, China possesses subtropical areas in the southern part of the nation, such as Hainan Island, that share many of the same resources as Hawaii and are excellent candidates for luxury hotel and resort development. In recent years, the Chinese government has focused its attention on the relatively underdeveloped western region, creating further opportunities.
