Can the cable company discontinue my cable service?

Yes. Service may be discontinued in the following situations:

  • Non-payment of a bill within 30 days after presentation. The cable company must thereafter give you at least 10 days written advance notice of its intention to discontinue service.
  • Non-payment of a bill for cable service furnished to the same subscriber at another location. Service may also be refused.
  • Non-compliance with any rule or condition under which cable services are being furnished. The cable company must give you 10 days written advance notice before discontinuing service. The notice shall advise you of the particular rule or condition which has been violated. Notice is not required when continued service may constitute a health or safety hazard or have an adverse effect on other subscribers.
  • The cable company has the right to refuse or discontinue service if it finds that an application or subscriber has furnished false or misleading information in obtaining cable service or credit.
  • The cable company has the right to refuse or discontinue cable service when the intended or actual use of cable service adversely affects other subscribers.
