Homeowners Premium Comparison Sheet

    An educated consumer is an informed consumer able to make better decisions on the purchase of insurance. An important purchase for many residents is homeowners insurance. For more information on Homeowners Insurance coverage, click here (Homeowners Information).

    The following charts lists licensed insurers that sell homeowners insurance in Hawaii The insurers listed on the charts have voluntarily provided the premiums they would charge for insuring a single family dwelling (HO2 or HO3 Forms) or household items in a rental unit (HO4 Form) or in an owned condominium (HO6 Form).

    The premiums listed on the charts are based on a hypothetical “home”, somewhere in Hawaii. The charts only provide the relative premiums the listed insurers would charge to insure the hypothetical “home”. The cost to insure your home will depend on the specific characteristics of your “home”.

    Please take note that the charts include the Hawaii Property Insurance Association (HPIA). The HPIA was established to insure homes in the lava zones on the Island of Hawaii and subsequent to Hurricane Iniki, expanded to provide coverage throughout the State. Licensed insurance producers consider the HPIA the insurer of last resort for homeowners insurance. However, the HPIA does not guaranty to insure every applicant for homeowners insurance.

    Single Family Dwelling
    HO2 and HO3 Forms generally provide the following coverage:
    COVERAGE A:  Replacement Cost of Dwelling
    COVERAGE B:  Other Structures - 10% OF COVERAGE A
    COVERAGE C:  Household Items - 50% OF COVERAGE A (ACV)
    COVERAGE D:  Loss of Use - 20% OF COVERAGE A
    Deductible: $500
    Section II  Liability Coverage

    Rental Unit (H04) / Condominium (HO6)
    HO4 and HO6 Forms generally provide the following coverages:
    COVERAGE C:  Actual Cash Value of Household Items
    COVERAGE D:  Loss of Use - 20% OF COVERAGE C (HO-4)
    Loss of Use - 40% OF COVERAGE C (HO-6)
    Deductible: $500

    PROTECTION CLASSES
    Designated areas throughout the State are rated and assigned a protection class designation by the Insurance industry. A few of the key rating factors for the protection classes include police and fire department protection, quality of streets and roads, and the quality of the public water supply.
