Resident Surplus Lines Broker

Surplus Lines FAQ - Effective July 1, 2012

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Individual (Initial License) 

If you held a HI Resident Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactive for more than two years.

 

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Individual (License Reactivation) 

If you held a HI Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactivated within two years.

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Business Entity (Initial License) 

If you held a HI Resident Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactive for more than two years.

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Business Entity (License Reactivation) 

If you held a HI Surplus Lines Broker license that was inactivated within two years.

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Individual or Business Entity (License Reinstatement) 

If you held a HI Surplus Lines Broker license that has been inactive for not more than thirty days, due to nonrenewal.

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Individual (Initial License)

Before submitting your application: 

  1. You must be licensed as a HI Resident Producer, or submitting an application for a HI Resident Producer with your Resident Surplus Lines Broker license application. Each application must have its own check. 
  2. To obtain fingerprints, schedule an appointment online at http://www.fieldprinthawaii.com. Fees collected by FieldPrint include state and federal submission fees. Be sure to select "Insurance Division." Otherwise, you may need to be re-fingerprinted at your own expense. 

If you are submitting applications for producer and surplus lines broker simultaneously, then you will only need to be fingerprinted once. 

After the above has been completed, apply online or submit paper application. 

To apply electronically and pay fees with a credit card go to: https://pdb.nipr.com/html/erlWelcome.html

Review the State Specific Requirements for Hawaii and the FAQs before pressing “Begin ERL Application.” 

You will not be able to apply electronically for a HI Resident Surplus Lines Broker license until your HI Resident Producer license has been activated. 

A complete paper application includes: 

  1. Form HPL - Hawaii Application for Individual Insurance License. Submit one with original signature. 
  2. Licensing Fees. Make check payable to DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS. 

 

 

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Individual (License Reactivation)

Before submitting your application: 

  1. You must be licensed as a HI Resident Producer, or submitting an application for a HI Resident Producer with your Resident Surplus Lines Broker license application. Each application must have its own check.

Resident Surplus Lines Broker - Business Entity (Initial License)

Before submitting your application: 

You must be licensed as a HI Resident Producer, or submitting an application for a HI Resident Producer with your Resident Surplus Lines Broker license application. Each application must have its own check. 

After the above has been completed, apply online or submit paper application.

  3. Licensing Fees. Make check payable to DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS.

Before submitting your application:
