Director's Statement Aloha! Our top priority at the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs is to serve our customers. As we join with other State agencies in implementing an employee furlough, we have strived to ensure that any inconvenience to our customers is kept to a minimum. Over the years, DCCA has led the way in State government in making services to the public available on line. Those services will remain available to you on a round-the-clock basis. For customers who prefer to or must visit our offices in person, we will continue to have full staffing to provide all of our services on non-furlough days. We appreciate our customers’ understanding and patience as we meet the challenges facing Hawaii in these trying economic times. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at dcca@dcca.hawaii.gov with your suggestions as to how we might improve our service to you! Sincerely, Lawrence M. Reifurth Office Hours The DCCA will be open 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM (Hawaii Standard Time), Monday to Friday, except state holidays and furlough days. See Calendar for State holidays and furlough Days. All Divisions On non-work days, messages can be sent to specific division's email or voice mail using the following public contact information. For deadlines that fall on furlough days check the division specific information below or contact the responsible division or dcca@dcca.hawaii.gov. Division Specific Information Hearings Office OAH will be closed on all designated furlough days. Additionally, any previously scheduled hearing or other OAH proceeding that now falls on a designated furlough day, will be rescheduled to the next available date that is agreed upon by the parties and the hearings officer assigned to that particular case. The OAH hearings officers will be contacting the parties to arrange the rescheduling of any proceedings that fall on designated furlough days. In regards to the filing of documents with OAH, any hearing-related documents for OAH, MCCP, and DCCP cases that are due for filing on a furlough day, will instead be due for filing with OAH on the first business day following that particular designated furlough day. If you need to file an initial request for a hearing by a specific date in order to comply with the applicable statute of limitation, and that specific date falls on a designated furlough day, you may want to consider filing the initial request for hearing prior to the designated furlough day, in order to avoid any potential complications regarding the applicable statute of limitations. Please call us at 586-2828 during business hours for more information.
Professional and Vocational Licensing The PVL office will be closed on the designated furlough days, however license information search and renewals will still be available on-line. Application deadlines that fall on a furlough day will be deemed due on the following business day (Call our main line at 586-3000 during business hours for more information). The furlough will result in the Changes to Examination dates and Changes to Board meetings. You may continue to contact us on any non-business day by utilizing the board/program e-mail address (shown on the main page of each licensing area) and we will respond during our business hours. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Document Actions |
