Renewal

 

(LPN, RN, APRN Recognition)
Biennial June 30 every odd numbered year. (Deadline to submit renewal application is end of May odd number year.)
 
Online renewals begin on April 15, 2013 10 a.m. (HST) through midnight (HST) June 30, 2013. Late renewals must be submitted by mail or in person.


Nurse licensees will be mailed a postcard renewal notice only.  Postcard notice will be mailed out Friday, April 12, 2013.

Failure to timely renew by the renewal date will result in the forfeiture of the license.  After the renewal date, the forfeited license may be restored within 2 years and subject to meeting restoration requirements.  Failure to restore a forfeited license within 2 years after the renewal date will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.

Inactive Licensees who have not practiced for 5 or more years may be required to retake and pass the NCLEX or complete appropriate continuing education approved by the Hawaii Board of Nursing.

Biennial December 31 every odd numbered year. (Deadline to submit renewal application is end of November odd number year.)

Failure to timely renew by the renewal date will result in the forfeiture of the license. After the renewal date, the forfeited license may be restored within 6 months and subject to meeting restoration requirements. Failure to restore a forfeited license within 6 months after the renewal date will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.

Pursuant to Section 436B-14.5, HRS, any license held by a member of the armed forces, National Guard, or a reserve component that expires, is forfeited, or deemed delinquent while the member is on active duty and deployed during a state or national crisis shall be restored if certain restoration requirements are met.  Military Renewal and Restoration Information Sheet.
