AHA
On October 15, 2010, the Department of Human Services in collaboration with the Casey Family Programs who sponsored this event, held their 2nd Statewide‘Aha. The ‘Aha took place at Our Lady of Kea’au in Makaha. The theme for this years ‘Aha is “I Ho’oulu Ka Noho Kaiaulu me ke Aloha,” which translates: Growing communities with Aloha. This speaks to supporting he work being done by families and communities to work together to strengthen our Hawaiian families, to prevent child abuse, prevent entry into foster care, and to strengthen the family unit so it can be preserved.
There were many different agencies, community providers, DHS staff, and families present at this ‘Aha. DHS representatives and community providers shared what is happening in their communities that started after the first Statewide ‘Aha in 2008. Community groups also came up with “next step” plans that will guide them in moving forward to continue to improve and support our Hawaiian families. You can find these plans for your community on this site.
Please also enjoy photos from the 2010 Statewide ‘Aha.
Mahalo for taking the time to look at the different community plans and photos.
