Ready to RunConference 2009

June 3, 2009, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Capitol Auditorium

Calling All Women.

Women’s voices do make a difference in the political process.

The Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women, under its legislative mandate to encourage and educate women in their political rights and responsibilities, is offering a workshop designed for women wanting to run for elected office or work on a political campaign

 Our one-day Ready to Run Campaign Training presents a unique opportunity for potential women candidates and campaign managers to hear directly from prominent elected and appointed leaders, campaign consultants, and party officials about how to get ready to run.  Meet women in the community involved in the political process on multiple levels and begin to build your own support network.  You will receive a campaign notebook with facts and tips to help you chart your path through the “campaign universe” as part of this one day training.   You will have the opportunity to hear from current legislators, and representatives from candidate support departments such as the Office of Elections and the Campaign Spending Commission.

 Our issues are community focused and family friendly.  Our views are committed to improving the world around us.  If you want to add your voice to those shaping our community today, or in the future, this event is for you!  If you’ve ever considered running for elective office but weren’t sure where to start, this event is for you!  If you want to get out and support candidates that are working on the issues you value in your community, this event is for you! Knowing how to run for office gives you the edge on the campaign trail!!!

Participants will walk away with:

*      “How-to” instructions manual on running for office;

*      Real-world advice and best practices from experts;

*      A better understanding of party politics;

*      Strategies for positioning yourself for public leadership;

The conference is free, presented by the Commission on the Status of Women,

space is limited.

If you’re interested in attending or receiving more information don’t delay

We hope to see you all there.
