 Kaulunani Mission Statement

Balance the urban and natural environment by encouraging, empowering and equipping the people of Hawai`i to Malama the trees in our Aina.

Program Goals

The Kaulunani program has six primary goals. They are to:
  • Increase the participation of the community through the cost-share grant program.

  • Expand the number of partnerships developed with new organizations.

  • Increase access to urban forestry information and materials.

  • Expand outreach to nontraditional groups and minorities.

  • Promote the use of native plants in all Kaulunani funded projects.

  • Enhance the skills and technology of industry groups.

Communities, with assistance from Kaulunani, can improve the quality of life within their built environment – and foster respect for Hawai‘i’s natural heritage – through a better understanding of the role trees play in cities and neighborhoods, and by actively participating in urban forestry projects.
