What's new with the Legacy Land Conservation Program:

Hawaii Legacy Land Conservation Program seeks applicants for up to $4.7 million in land acquisition funding.

The Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Legacy Land Conservation Program (LLCP) is seeking applicants for grants from the State Land Conservation Fund to fund the protection, through acquisition, of lands having value as a resource to the State of Hawaii. For details, click here (pdf).

Board of Land and Natural Resources (BLNR) approves five new Legacy Land Conservation Program grants.

On May 9, 2008, the BLNR granted $4.7 million to county agencies and nonprofit land conservation organizations for the protection, through acquisition, of lands having value as a resource to the State of Hawai‘i. For details, click here (pdf).

Farm and ranch lands on Moloka‘i become the first lands to be permantly protected through the Legacy Land Conservation Program. 

In coordination with the federal Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program and the State Legacy Land Conservation Program, the Maui Coastal Land Trust (MCLT) has purchased a permanent conservation easement over 168 acres of ranch land on Moloka‘i. Read MCLT's press release here (pdf).

The Legacy Land Conservation Commission (LLCC) will meet for the first time on May 7, 2007, to discuss its duties and recieve information practices and ethics training. Read all about it here (pdf).
