Goals of Project:
- Continue to maintain plant enclosures
- Control of alien species
- Provide protective environment for out-planted species
What was done? /What is being done?

Personal and equipment were transported by helicopter in Waimea Canyon to maintain Hibiscadelphus distans exclosure fence. In addition to fence work, weeding, herbicide application, tree cutting, and monitoring is done as well.

Seeds taken from Hibiscadelphus distans plants have been germinated and planted in exclosures in Waimea Valley

Seeds were also taken from other native species in the exclosures and many of these plants are thriving within the exclosures.
Plant Restoration and Enhancement – Kokee Rare Plant Facility

Goals of Project:
- Rare plant propagation to increase population numbers
- Out-planting of rare plants
What was done? /What is being done?

Native plant propagation and out-planting continued throughout the year.

Propagation of 14 listed endangered species and 6 other rare Kauai species.

Out-planting done at Kalalau Rim, Kahoaloha, Kaulaula, Nounou Mountain, and Naulolo Trail exclosures.

Hibiscus clayi collected from Nounou Mountain enclosure and provided out-planting seeds and cuttings for propagation and planting in original site. Weeding and removal of invasive species from the area was done as well.
