January 7, 2010 - El Niño is expected to continue at least into the Northern Hemisphere spring 2010. Climate Preciction Center ENSO Alert System Status: El Niño Advisory.

 

December 11, 2009 - USDA Designates Two Counties in Hawaii as Primary Disaster Areas. Hawaii and Maui Counties designated due to drought that occurred from January 1, 2009, and continuting.

September 18, 2009 - USDA announces implementation of livestock disaster assistance programs - LFP) and Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program (ELAP).
