REGARDING PROPOSED SET ASIDE OF APPROXIMATELY 5,975 ACRES (TMK: 1-1-001-001), HAWAII INTO THE KAHAUALEA NATURAL AREA RESERVE AND APPROXIMATELY 261 ACRES (TMK (2) 5-1-002:006), MOLOKAI FOR THE ILIO POINT NATURAL AREA RESERVE

Public Hearing for Proposed Extension of Kahaualea NAR
DATE and TIME: Thursday, November 12, 2009, 6:00 p.m.
PLACE: Volcano Cooper Center, 19-4030 Wright Road, Volcano, HI 96785
The Department of Land and Natural Resources, State of Hawaii, pursuant to Chapter 195,183-12 and 183-13 Hawaii Revised Statutes will hold two public hearings to receive testimony on the proposed Ilio Point Natural Area Reserve TMK (2) 5-1-002:006, Molokai, and extension of Kahaualea Natural Area Reserve TMK (3) 1-1-001:001, Hawaii.
These proposed set asides would encompass state owned land on the northwestern tip of Molokai, and between the Kahaualea NAR and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii Island. The proposed areas contain native ecosystems with several species of rare and endangered plants and animals.
Any person may testify or present information at the public hearings. Copies of the nominations and a map of the area are available for inspection by contacting Emma Yuen at the DLNR Division of Forestry and Wildlife office, Room 325, 1151 Punchbowl St. Honolulu, Hawai`i 96813 or via e-mail at Emma.Yuen@hawaii.gov. If you desire to attend the above meeting and require auxiliary aids (taped materials or sign language interpreter) please request assistance 10 working days prior to hearing calling 587-4170.
