2 Capital Improvement Projects
for Recreational Infrastructure

Park and Trail Improvements


Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area will be part of a new network of trails and ocean landings linking Hapuna to Kiholo and Kekaha Kai State Parks and the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail.  The Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail will offer a long-distance hiking experience connecting wilderness camping areas, shelters and interpretive signs.

Capital improvement projects to occur under the Recreational Renaissance are shoreline stabilization and flood damage mitigation and improvements and construction of Comfort station, pavilions, rental cabins, camping areas, picnic areas & new concessions expansion improvements. 

Costs of these projects are:

  • $2,550,000       Comfort station, pavilions, rental cabins, camping areas, 
                           picnic areas & new concessions expansio improvements
  • $1,100,000       Shoreline stabilization and flood damage mitigation
