3 Capital Improvement Projects
for Recreational Infrastructure

Park and Trail Improvements

 

Kekaha Kai State Park will be part of a new network of trails and ocean landings linking Kekaha Kai State Park to Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area and Kiholo State Park and the Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail.  The Ala Kahakai National Historic Trail will offer a long-distance hiking experience connecting wilderness camping areas, shelters and interpretive signs.

Capital improvement projects to occur under the Recreational Renaissance are improvements to Maniniowali/Kua Bay and Mahaiula sections of the Parks and parking, and road improvements.

Costs of these projects are:

  • $500,000           Improvements to Maniniowali/Kua Bay and Mahaiula sections.
  • $2,850,000        Park, parking & road improvements
  • $400,000           Restoration improvements to Kaelemakule house as an interpretive facility
