American Samoa- A planeload carrying the last of Hawaii National Guard (HING) Airmen and Soldiers who supported relief efforts in American Samoa arrives in Honolulu later tonight.

The Hawaii Air National Guard (HIANG) today announced the recipients of its annual “Launa Ole” awards. The Launa Ole (meanings include: unequalled, superior) awards are for outstanding performance for individuals and teams over the past year.

After a distinguished career spanning more than three decades, the Hawaii Air National Guard’s first female general has retired. Governor Linda Lingle was among the many dignitaries and flag officers who attended the retirement ceremony. Brigadier General Kathleen Berg became the first female general in the Hawaii Air National Guard (HIANG) in August 2005.
