Compliance
Return to HIARNG Environmental Office
What is Environmental Compliance?
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and state environmental agencies regulate the impact of military activities on the environment.
Compliance is one of the key components we use to protect human health and the environment by ensuring that all of the HIARNG's facilities adhere to environmental regulations.
Additionally, the HIARNG is held to higher environmental standards by the Department of Defense, National Guard Bureau, and the United States Army’s environmental policies and objectives.
Why do we comply?
The first reason is: It's the law! Secondly, failure to comply can negatively impact the health of our air, land and water, plant, animal and human population. In addition, environmental violations discovered may lead to civil enforcement or criminal enforcement and could be punishable by both monetary fines and incarceration.
