Diamond Head Restoration Project

The restoration pillar includes the Installation Restoration Program (IRP) and the Formally Used Defense Sites (FUDS) Program. IRP is used to identify, assess, and clean up hazardous waste sites. IRP assesses the risks at each site and allocates resources to promote an effective and expeditious cleanup. The FUDS Program addresses the HIARNG's responsibility for environmental restoration activities under the Defense Environmental Restoration Program (DERP) for lands formerly owned by any DOD component. Investigation and cleanup procedures at formerly used sites are similar to those at currently owned installations.
