MEMORANDUM FOR Students attending the Warrior Leader Course at the 298TH Regiment, Multifunctional Training Unit

SUBJECT:  Warrior Leader Course Welcome Letter

1.  On behalf of the entire command staff at the 298th Regiment, I would like to congratulate you on your selection to attend the Warrior Leader Course (WLC).  You have displayed qualities and attributes that are consistent with the Army Values and the Noncommissioned Officers Creed. You are now taking your first step towards becoming a professional Noncommissioned Officer (NCO).

2. With the continued Global War on Terrorism (GWOT), the Armed Services are deploying Soldiers rapidly and, on many occasions, multiple times.  This high operational tempo places the need for highly skilled and effective leaders to help maintain the high level of training that makes our Army the premier fighting force in the world.  The skills you learn during WLC will help make you a more well-rounded Soldier; knowing both how to take care of your Soldiers in garrison and how to deploy your forces during conflict.

3.  You can access all of the 298th Regiment MFTU’s WLC information on our website at http://hawaii.gov/dod/hiarng/rti and clicking on the WLC button under the Courses tab.   Packing List will be included on WLC website, attached to your 45 day letter, and also included on the ATTRS screen. Ensure you review the Memorandum of Instruction and Policy Letter #1 on the webpage so that you fully understand the requirements of WLC.  If you have questions the point of contact is SFC Calvin Naipo at 808-672-1875 or SFC Arthur Uesugi 808-672-1823

4. Again welcome to the Warrior Leader Course and remember; there is strong, then there is “Army Strong”.
