Ft. Ruger, HI-  A Hawaii Army National Guard soldier who was injured in a humvee accident on June 7th has died.   SGT. Michael Geisler, 44, from B Battery, 1st Battalion/487th Field Artillery, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team was pronounced dead late yesterday afternoon at Queen’s Medical Center.  On Tuesday night Geisler was driving a humvee at Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) on the Big Island when he swerved to avoid hitting an animal on the road.  The humvee flipped over, and SGT. Geisler was pinned underneath.   There was one other soldier in the humvee who was not seriously injured.  Geisler was initially taken to North Community Hospital in Waimea in critical condition. He was then transferred to Queen’s the following day.  Geisler lived in Ewa Beach, Hawaii.   A Hawaii Army National Guard casualty assistance officer has been assigned to aid the family.  Funeral arrangements are pending.

SGT. Geisler was among approximately two thousand Hawaii Army National Guard soldiers currently conducting annual training at PTA.
