HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIER IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING VEHICLE ACCIDENT
A soldier from B Battery, 1st Battalion/487th Field Artillery, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is in critical condition after being in a vehicle accident this evening at Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) on the Big Island.

HAWAII ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SOLDIER IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING VEHICLE ACCIDENT
A soldier from B Battery, 1st Battalion/487th Field Artillery, 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team is in critical condition after being in a vehicle accident this evening at Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) on the Big Island. The soldier was driving a Hawaii Army National Guard humvee on Old Saddle Road around 6:40 p.m. when he swerved to avoid an animal on the road. The humvee flipped over, and the driver was pinned inside. He was taken to North Community Hospital in Waimea in critical condition. Initial reports indicate there was one other soldier in the vehicle at the time who did not sustain any serious injuries. Approximately two thousand Hawaii Army National Guard soldiers are currently conducting their annual training at PTA. The soldier's next of kin has been notified. His name is not being made public at this time.
