Hawaii National Guard Begins Debris Clean-up on Maui

Sgt. Dominic Bardenas, a combat engineer with the 29th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, Hawaii National Guard, clears flood-debris near Kula on Maui, Hawaii. Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen are helping residents affected by the floods.

KULA, HAWAII – Approximately 50 Hawaii National Guard Soldiers and Airmen begin the task of removing heavy debris in Kula from the flash flooding that occurred during the first week in December.

 

WHEN:          Wed., January 9, 2008 (from 10 a.m.)

WHERE:        288 Polipoli Road and 620 Polipoli Road, Kula, Maui

WHO:              Hawaii National Guard Soldiers and Airmen

WHAT:            The clean-up, estimated to take about 30 days, includes removing debris from existing stream banks and reconstructing new stream paths.
