WHAT:            Press Conference

WHEN:            Tuesday, January 9, 2008, 1:00 p.m.

WHO:              Brig. Gen. Peter S. Pawling, Commander, 154th Wing, Hawaii Air National Guard and F-15 pilots

WHERE:         199th Fighter Squadron flightline, Hickam Air Force Base, Oahu

A Press Conference will be held by Brig. Gen. Peter S. Pawling, Commander, 154th Wing, Hawaii Air National Guard. Brig. Gen. Pawling will be discussing the recent “return to fly” order of select F-15 A-D model aircraft. Hawaii’s F-15s started flying as of this morning. Two-thirds of the 199th Fighter Squadron’s F-15s have been cleared to fly.

The order and recommendation follows more than two months of stand-down actions after an Air National Guard F-15C aircraft experienced catastrophic structural failure and broke apart in flight during a basic fighter maneuver training sortie in Missouri on the second of November.

All media will be provided with video and photos from the first flight this morning.

If you would like to attend this event, please RSVP with the PAO at 457-0511 ASAP. Media attending should meet the PAO at the Hickam Air Force Base front gate at 12:45 p.m.
