Memorial Day Ceremony at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery

 

WHEN: Monday, May 26, 1:00 p.m.

 

WHAT: Governor’s Memorial Day Ceremony

 

WHO: Governor Linda Lingle, State Adjutant General (Maj. Gen.) Robert G.F. Lee, members of the U.S. military, veterans groups 

 

WHERE: Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii


Honolulu, HI-- Under the auspices of the Office of Veterans Services, a division of the State of Hawaii, Department of Defense, Governor Lingle will host the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.

 

The program will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a musical prelude by the 111th Army Band, Hawaii Army National Guard.   That will be followed by an Oli (chant) by Soo Whan Cullen and a parade of flags from various veterans organizations.  Mr. Jonathan Kaina from the Society of Seven will sing the national and state anthems as well as provide a musical interlude.  A rifle salute will be provided by a U.S. Army Honor Guard and a CH-47 helicopter flyover will be provided by the Hawaii Army National Guard.   Governor Lingle will deliver the keynote address and lay a wreath with Maj. Gen. Lee.

 

Recommended attire is Aloha for civilians and Class B or equivalent for military. Attendees are asked to turn off their car alarms while at the cemetery.
