PAUL CHU, PH.D., PRESIDENT OF THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, TO SPEAK AT ASIA PACIFIC HOMELAND SECURITY SUMMIT

HONOLULU -- Dr. Paul Chu, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will be a featured speaker during the Asia-Pacific Homeland Security Summit October 8-10, 2008 in Honolulu, HI.
Dr. Chu is a distinguished scientist who has received numerous awards and honors for his exemplary work as a genuine pioneer in the field of superconductivity. Dr. Chu will represent the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology at the conference.
Presented by the State of Hawaii, in partnership with the Science and Technology Directorate of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the sixth annual Asia-Pacific Homeland Security Summit will focus on fostering partnerships among nations for scientific research for Homeland Security.
As a key speaker at this Summit, Dr. Chu will brings significant insight and experience in developing strategic international partnerships between various institutions to achieve research and development progress in national security and defense technology arenas. He has led his university to gain a well deserved reputation as a driving force in the development of science and technology.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has a history of working national security issues, especially in the wake of the SARS epidemic that struck China in 2003. It should also be noted that his university was recently ranked as possessing the number one business school in the world according to the Financial Times. Dr. Chu’s presentation is sure to enlighten both technical and business audiences attending the Summit.
