Fort Weaver Road Roadwork Updates

Various lane closures on Fort Weaver Road between Old Fort Weaver Road and Geiger Road for installation of street lighting and landscaping for work on the following dates and locations:

Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4

  • 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., daily, left lane closures between Kolowaka Drive and Geiger Road in both directions.
  • 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, left lane closures between Kolowaka Drive and Laulaunui Street in both directions.

Saturday, December 5

  • 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., single lane closures between Cane Haul Bridge and Kolowaka Drive in the southbound direction.

The work is part of Phase II of a project to widen Fort Weaver Road from four lanes to six, adding an additional traffic lane in each direction from Aawa Drive to Geiger Road.  Phase II is expected to be completed by the end of 2009 at a total cost of $59.85 million, 80% of which will paid for with federal funds and 20% by state funds. Phase I of the project was completed in August 2006 and widened Fort Weaver Road from four-to-six lanes from Farrington Highway to Aawa Drive.
