Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn’t the contractor work at night?
A noise variance was obtained to allow the contractor to perform night work for certain construction activities. However, much of the work on this project involves equipment which is considered too noisy to be used at night in such close proximity to residential homes. This possibility is still being explored as an option for certain types of roadwork.
What are the lane closure hours?
The contractor is allowed to close one lane in the southbound direction from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and one lane in the northbound direction south of Renton Road from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In areas where three lanes exist, one lane is allowed to be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Why is the contractor working after lane closure hours?
The contractor is allowed to continue work on the project after lane closure hours as long as the work does not impacting traffic.
When will the roadwork be completed?
Roadwork is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2009. However, three lanes of traffic in each direction, along with new traffic signals, are anticipated to be operational by August 21, 2009. Individual segments may be opened as the intersections become available.
