About the Bike Map

This map was produced by the State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (DOT). The various types of routes shown require different levels of bicycling skills, and bicyclists are advised to use only those routes that are suitable for their individual skills. All of the roads shown have both car and truck traffic, some with heavy traffic volumes. It is recommended that all bicyclists educate themselves on bicycle safety and the rules of the road before using any of the routes shown. The DOT and DOH in no way warrant the safety of the routes and facilities outlined on this map for use by bicyclists.

Participation in physical activity can be potentially harmful and can include inherent risks for individuals who are healthy and those who have special health needs. Participants undertake activity at their own risk and are responsible for making sound judgements regarding what activity is appropriate.

The recommendations listed in this map are, in no way, meant to replace medical advice or recommendations. All participants are encouraged to seek medical clearance before beginning an exercise program or enhancing an existing activity program.

Bicycles are prohibited from using the interstate freeways.
