Oahu Lane Closures

For the week of Saturday, July 24, to Friday, July 30.

All projects are weather permitting.

 

--- H-1 FREEWAY ---

 

1)  MAKAKILO TO KAPOLEI (NIGHT WORK)

Two right lanes will be closed on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction from the Makakilo Interchange to the Kualakai Parkway Interchange (North-South Road), from Sunday night, July 25, through Friday morning, July 30, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly, for pavement retrofitting.  All on-ramps and off-ramps will remain open during these hours.

 

2)  KINAU STREET OFF-RAMP 

Right lane closure on the H-1 Freeway (eastbound) Kinau Street Off-Ramp (Exit 22) on Monday, July 26, through Tuesday, July 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for off-ramp widening activities.  The left off-ramp lane will remain open to traffic.

 

Left lane closure on the H-1 Freeway (eastbound) Kinau Street Off-Ramp (Exit 22) on Wednesday, July 28, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for off-ramp widening activities.  The right off-ramp lane will remain open to traffic.

This project will construct a new right-turn lane on the Kinau Street Off-Ramp to access Lusitana Street, an improvement designed to improve traffic flow and offer emergency vehicles an alternate route to the Queen’s Medical Center.  For more information, call the project hotline at 585-5048.

 

3)  MAKAKILO/KAPOLEI OFF-RAMP CLOSURE (CONTINUOUS)

24-hour, seven-day-a-week closure of the H-1 Freeway eastbound Makakilo/Kapolei/ Kalaeloa Off-Ramp (Exit 1B) continues through the end of 2010 when work on Phase I of the new Kapolei Interchange Complex nears completion. During the closure, motorists wishing to access the Kapolei area will be directed to use the previous Campbell Industrial Park/Barbers Point Harbor Off-Ramp (Exit 1A) to Kapolei Parkway and Kamokila Boulevard as an alternate route.

 

--- H-2 FREEWAY ---

 

1)  PEARL CITY TO SCHOFIELD BARRACKS (NIGHT WORK)

Multiple lane closures on the H-2 Freeway in both directions between the H-1/H-2 Split near Pearl City and the H-2 Freeway terminus near Schofield Barracks on Sunday night, July 25, through Friday morning, July 29, from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly, for pavement marking installations. 

 

2)  WAIPIO TO MILILANI (NIGHT WORK)

Three left lanes will be closed on the H-2 Freeway in the northbound direction between Ka Uka Boulevard Overpass and the Mililani Mauka Off-Ramp (Exit 5A) from 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, July 28, through 4 a.m. on Thursday morning, July 29, for expansion joint repair work on the Kipapa Stream Bridge. 

 

--- H-3 FREEWAY ---

 

1)  KANEOHE

Right lane closure on the H-3 Freeway in the Kaneohe-bound direction between the Hospital Rock Tunnels and the Likelike Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 9) on Tuesday, July 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., for traffic camera repairs. 

 

--- FARRINGTON HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  WAIPAHU (NIGHT & DAY WORK)

  • Nighttime left lane and intersection closures on Farrington Highway in both directions between Paiwa Street and Mokuola Street on Monday night, July 26, through Friday morning, July 30, in the westbound direction from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and in the eastbound direction from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly.

  • Nighttime left lane and intersection closures on Farrington Highway in both directions between Kahualii Street and Aniani Place on Monday night, July 26, through Friday morning, July 30, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., nightly.

  • Daytime shoulder lane closures and intersection closures on Farrington Highway in both directions between Kahualii Street and Paiwa Street, near Waipahu High School, on Monday, July 26, to Friday, July 30, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., daily.

2)  KOOLINA TO NANAKULI

 

  • NIGHT WORK

--- KAHEKILI HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  AHUIMANU

Single right lane closure on Kahekili Highway in the northbound direction from Haiku Road to West Hui Iwa Drive on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for sewer line improvements. 

 

--- KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  NEAR HANAUMA BAY, FULL NIGHTTIME CLOSURE (NIGHT WORK)

Full lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in both directions from Hanauma Bay Road to the Halona Point Lookout (Blow Hole) on Monday night, July 26, through Friday morning, July 30, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly, for pavement marking.  Motorists traveling between Waimanalo and Hawaii Kai are advised to use Pali Highway as an alternate route during construction hours.

 

2)  MAKAPUU, FULL NIGHTTIME CLOSURE (NIGHT WORK)
Full lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in both directions between the Ka Iwi Scenic Lookout and the Makapuu Beach Park on Sunday night, July 25, through Friday morning, July 30, from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., nightly, for slope stabilization and retaining wall construction work.  Motorists traveling between Waimanalo and Hawaii Kai are advised to use Pali Highway as an alternate route during construction hours.

 

3)  HAWAII KAI

Right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the westbound direction from Keahole Street to Hawaii Kai Drive, on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for electrical conduit installations.  Also, possible lane closures in the surrounding area at the following locations:

  • Kalanianaole Highway eastbound: One of two left turn lanes onto Hawaii Kai Drive.
  • Keahole Street southbound:  Right lane closure near the Kalanianaole Highway intersection.
  • Hawaii Kai Drive southbound:  Right lane closure near the Kalanianaole Highway intersection.

 

4)  WAIALAE TO KAILUA

Roving single lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in both directions between Ainakoa Avenue in Waialae and Kailua Road in Kailua on Tuesday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily, for pothole patching.

 

5)  AINA HAINA

Middle lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the eastbound direction from Moomuku Street to Kuliouou Road on Monday, July 26, through Tuesday, July 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for sewer system improvements.

 

--- KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  PEARLRIDGE TO WAIMALU

Lane closures on Kamehameha Highway from Pearlridge to Waimalu are scheduled on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for traffic signal improvements and fence repairs at the following locations:

 

  • Alternating single lane closures from Honomanu Street to Kaonohi Street in both directions.

 

  • Single left lane closures from Kaahumanu Street to Puu Momi Street in both directions.

 

2)  MILILANI TO WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD

Right lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions from Kipapa Street in Mililani to Lehua Street near the Wheeler Army Airfield on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for roadside tree-trimming. 

 

3)  WAHIAWA

Temporary traffic pattern changes on Kamehameha Highway in both directions near the Wilikina Drive Intersection on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for traffic counter installations.  No lane closures, but traffic lanes will be shifted to utilize the shoulder lanes.


4)  PUPUKEA

Single lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions from Pupukea Road to Puula Road, near the Foodland supermarket, on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for traffic detector installations.  For additional information, email the Board of Water Supply Construction Section at contactus@hbws.org, Attn: Construction Section, or call 748-5730.

 

5)  KAHUKU TO KAHULUU

Roving single lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions between Pualalea Street in Kahuku and Kahekili Highway in Kahuluu on Monday, July 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily, for pothole patching.

 

6)  KAHANA VALLEY (CONTINUOUS)

Short-duration lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions near the North Kahana Stream Bridge between Trout Farm Road and Kahana Valley Road, near Kahana Bay Beach Park, on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for bridge replacement work.  Motorists are advised that traffic has been diverted from Kamehameha Highway to a temporary detour bridge on the makai-side of the North Kahana Stream Bridge.

 

7)  PUNALUU (CONTINUOUS)

Short-duration lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in both directions near the South Punaluu Stream Bridge, between Punaluu Valley Road and the Punaluu Beach Park, on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for bridge replacement work.  Motorists are advised that traffic has been diverted from Kamehameha Highway to a temporary detour bridge on the makai-side of the South Punaluu Stream Bridge.

--- PALI HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  NEAR PALI TUNNELS

Left lane closure on Pali Highway in the Kailua-bound direction between the two Pali Tunnel structures, on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for overhead tree-trimming work.

--- ALA MOANA BOULEVARD ---

 

1)  ATKINSON DRIVE TO PIIKOI STREET (NIGHT WORK, CONTINUOUS)

Two left lanes on Ala Moana Boulevard will be closed in the westbound direction between Atkinson Drive and Piikoi Street nightly (through October 2010) for sewer reconstruction, street lighting installations and pavement resurfacing at following hours:

  • 10:00 p.m., Saturday night, to 10:00 a.m., Sunday morning.
  • 8:00 p.m., Sunday night, to 6:00 a.m., Monday morning.
  • 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. on Monday nights through Friday mornings.

 

2)  WAIKIKI

Left lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions from Hobron Lane to Ena Road, on Thursday, July 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for median hedge trimming.


--- KAMOKILA BOULEVARD ---

 

1)  KAPOLEI

Single lane closures on Kamokila Boulevard in both directions near the Wakea Street Intersection on Monday, July 26, through Friday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for utility installations.

 

--- LILIHA STREET ---

 

1)  KALIHI (FULL NIGHTTIME ROAD CLOSURE)

Full closure of Liliha Street in both directions between North Vineyard Boulevard and North King Street from 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night, July 25, to 3:00 a.m. Monday morning, July 26, for pavement resurfacing preparation work.

 

Motorists are advised to use the parallel Pua Lane and Aala Street as alternate routes around the closure area.
