Oahu Lane Closures
For the week of Saturday, February 4, to Friday, February 10.

All projects are weather permitting.
--- H-1 FREEWAY ---

1) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (NIGHT WORK)
Full closure on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction from Pearl City to Aiea on Monday night, February 6, through Friday morning, February 10, from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for replacement of an outdated electronic message-board mounted on the Kaamilo Street Overpass.
During construction hours, all eastbound traffic on the H-1 Freeway will be detoured onto Moanalua Road via the Pearlridge/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10). The next available freeway on-ramp can be accessed from Moanalua Road via Aiea Access Road and from Kamehameha Highway east of McGrew Loop, both in the Aloha Stadium area. All westbound H-1 freeway lanes will remain open.
Eastbound motorists on the H-1 Freeway coming from West Oahu can also use the Kamehameha Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 8A) as an alternate route through the Pearl City/Aiea area (see graphic below).
Motorists are advised to use caution when driving through these areas, to use alternate routes and to allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather permitting.

When nightly closures begin, all eastbound traffic will be detoured to Moanalua Road via the Pearlridge/Waimalu Off-Ramp (Exit 10). Motorists may also use Kamehameha Highway (Exit 8A) as an alternate route.
2) KAHALA TO KAIMUKI (WEEKEND/WEEKDAY & NIGHT WORK)
Single lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction from the Kilauea Avenue Off-Ramp (Exit 27) to the King Street Off Ramp (Exit 25A) for pavement maintenance on the following dates and times:
Daytime

Saturday, February 4, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, February 5, from 7 a.m. to 5 a.m., Monday morning.
Nighttime

Monday night, February 6, through Friday morning, February 10, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly.
All on-ramps and off-ramps in the area will remain open. Roadwork is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the middle of 2012.
3) DOWNTOWN (NIGHT WORK)
Left lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in both directions between the Aala Street Overpass and the Queen Emma Street Overpass on Sunday night, February 5, through Friday morning, February 10, from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m., nightly, for seismic retrofitting of the Nuuanu Avenue and Pali Highway Overpasses.
4) AIRPORT VIADUCT (WEEKEND NIGHT WORK)
The three leftmost lanes will be closed on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct in the westbound direction from the Keehi Interchange to the Hickam AFB/Naval Base Off-Ramp (Exit 15B) from 5 p.m. on Sunday night, February 5, to 3 a.m. on Monday morning, February 6, for pothole repairs. All on-ramps and off-ramps in the area will remain open.
Single lane closures below the viaduct on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction from Middle Street to Valkenburgh Street are possible to provide a safety zone for the work overhead.
5) AIRPORT VIADUCT
Left closure on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct (Exit 16) in the eastbound direction from the Kamehameha Highway On-Ramp to the Waikiki/Nimitz Highway Off-Ramp (Exit 18A) on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for median landscaping.
--- H-3 FREEWAY ---
1) KANEOHE TO HALAWA
Roving single lane closures on the H-3 Freeway in both directions from the Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe, to the Kahuapaani Street Overpass in Halawa on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., daily, for pothole patching.
--- FARRINGTON HIGHWAY ---
1) KAPOLEI (CONTINUOUS)
24-hour right turn and center lane closures on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction from Kealanani Avenue to Kamokila Boulevard from 8:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6, through 3 p.m. on Friday, February 10, for construction of a new turning lane, median work and traffic signal work at the Makakilo Drive Intersection.
2) KOOLINA TO NANAKULI (NIGHT WORK)
Single lane closure on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction from Kalaeloa Boulevard to Pohakunui Avenue on Monday night, February 6, through Friday morning, February 10, from 7 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., nightly, for water line installations near the HECO Kahe Point Power Plant.
3) WAIPAHU
Left lane closure in the westbound direction from Mokuola Street to Pupupuhi Street on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for tree relocation and excavation work for the City and County’s Honolulu Rail Project.
4) WAIPAHU
Right lane closure in the westbound direction from Pupupuhi Street to Leowahine Street on Wednesday, February 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for pavement repair.
5) WAIANAE
Right lane closure on Farrington Highway in the southbound direction from Ala Walua Street to Lualualei Homestead Road on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily for roadside utility installations and pavement repair.
--- KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY ---
1) HAWAII KAI (WEEKEND WORK)
Right turn 24-hour lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway in the westbound direction from the vicinity of the Kalanianaole Highway entrance to the Hawaii Kai Towne Center to Kawaihae Street on Sunday February 5, through Saturday February 11, for road widening and installation of a new sidewalk. A temporary 24-hour-a-day shoulder lane closure will be in effect outside of construction hours and the existing sidewalk will remain closed to pedestrian traffic.
2) HAWAII KAI (WEEKEND WORK)
Single right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the eastbound direction between Portlock Road and Lunalilo Home Road on Saturday, February 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for utility line clearance and tree trimming.
3) HAWAII KAI
Single left turn lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the westbound direction from the Kalanianaole Highway entrance to the Hawaii Kai Towne Center to Hawaii Kai Drive in the vicinity of Keahole Street on Sunday February 5, through Saturday February 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for road widening and new sidewalk installation.
4) HAWAII KAI
Right lane closure on Kalanianaole Highway in the westbound direction from the entrance to Hawaii Kai Golf Course to the entrance to Wawamalu Beach Park on Tuesday, February 7, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., daily, for traffic signal work at the Kealahou Street Intersection.
--- KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY ---
1) PEARL CITY TO AIEA (NIGHT WORK)
Nighttime left lane closures in both directions between Acacia Road and Salt Lake Boulevard from 8 p.m. on Monday night, February 6, through 5 a.m. on Friday morning, February 10, for work on underground utilities for the City & County’s Honolulu Rail Transit Project.
--LIKELIKE HIGHWAY—
1) KALIHI
Single right lane closures on Likelike Highway in the southbound direction from Wilson Street to Gulick Avenue, on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for bridge repairs.
2) KALIHI TO KANEOHE
Roving right lane closures on Likelike Highway in the northbound (Kaneohe-bound) direction from North School Street to Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe, on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for tree trimming.
3) KANEOHE
Single lane closures in the alternating directions on Likelike Highway between Kahekili Highway and Kamehameha Highway, on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for underground utility installations near the Anoi Road Intersection. During work hours, there may be alternating single lane closures in both directions on Anoi Road between Kamehameha Highway and Kahekili Highway.
--NIMITZ HIGHWAY—
1) IWILEI (NIGHT WORK)
Alternating left and right lane closures on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction from Awa Street to Alakawa Street from 8 p.m. on Thursday night, February 9, through 5 a.m. on Friday morning, February 10, for sewer system work.
2) IWILEI
Alternating left and right lane closures on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction from Awa Street to Alakawa Street on Monday, February 5, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for sewer system work.
--- ALA MOANA BOULEVARD ---
1) DOWNTOWN TO WAIKIKI (NIGHT WORK)
Multiple lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions between Bethel Street and Kalakaua Avenue on Monday night, February 6, through Friday morning, February 10, from 6 p.m., to 5:30 a.m., nightly, for streetlight and electrical utilities installations, and sidewalk repairs (see graphic below). During construction hours, motorists are advised to use Beretania Street, King Street and Kapiolani Boulevard as alternate routes. 2) ALA MOANA TO WAIKIKI
Right lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both direction between Piikoi Street and Kalia Road in the vicinity of the Ala Wai Canal Bridge on Monday February 6, through Friday February 10, from 8:30 a.m. a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for work on the bridge (see graphic below).

Nighttime closures beginning on Monday night will extend between Bethel Street and Kalakaua Avenue. Motorists should use Kapiolani Boulevard, King Street, or Beretania Street as alternate routes between downtown and Waikiki. Daytime closures will be between Hobron Lane and Piikoi Street.

Various lane closures on Makakilo Drive from Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, at the following times and locations:

24-hour-a-day closure in the northbound direction between Farrington Highway and the eastbound H-1 Freeway On-ramp for construction of a new traffic system.

Right lane closure in the southbound direction from the H-1 Freeway On-Ramp to Farrington Highway from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for construction of a new lane.
--- CORAL SEA ROAD ---
1) BARBERS POINT
Lane closure on Coral Sea Road in both directions between Independence Road and Eisenhower Road on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for road widening work.
--- KALIHI STREET ---
1) KALIHI-PALAMA
Right lane closure on Kalihi Street in the northbound direction from Nimitz Highway to Dillingham Boulevard on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., daily, for sidewalk repair.
--- KEAHOLE STREET ---
1) HAWAII KAI (CONTINUOUS)
Continuous, 24-hour-a-day closure of the right turn lane to Kalanianaole Highway on Keahole Street in the southbound direction for electrical utility installations and drainage improvements. During this period, the southbound sidewalk from the vicinity of the Hawaii Kai Park & Ride/Hawaii Kai Towne Center Intersection to Kalanianaole Highway will be closed to pedestrian traffic.
--- KINAU STREET ---
1) MAKIKI
Single lane closure on Kinau Street from Alapai Street to Lusitana Street on Monday, February 6, through Friday, February 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., for construction of a concrete bus stop pad.
