Honolulu International Airport Temporary Runway Closures Begin on Tuesday

09/16/10 - There will be an increase in aircraft traffic over the downtown Honolulu and Ewa plains area due to airfield maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport. Runway 4R will be closed continuously, 24 hours per day, from 7 a.m., Tues., Sept. 21, through 6 p.m., Mon., Sept. 27. During these times, flight patterns for both departing and arriving aircraft will be modified resulting in increased air traffic over the downtown and Ewa plains area.

HONOLULU—The state Department of Transportation advises Oahu residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over the downtown and Ewa plains area due to airfield maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport. Runway 4R will be closed continuously, 24 hours per day, from 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 21, through 6:00 p.m., Monday, September 27, for airfield maintenance work. During these times, flight patterns for both departing and arriving aircraft will be modified resulting in increased air traffic over the downtown and Ewa plains area.
