WHAT IS ABSENTEE VOTING?
Absentee voting is designed to make voting
more convenient for voters. Any
registered voter may request to vote absentee, either:
1.
In person
2.
By mail
HOW DO I VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT?
In Person
Absentee polling places shall be established
at the office of the respective clerks, and may be established at such other
sites as designated by the clerk under the provisions prescribed in the rules
adopted by the Chief Election Officer.
Absentee voting-in-person dates are:
2014
Primary Election: July 28 – August 7,
2014
2014
General Election: October 21 –
November 1, 2014
Please contact your City/County Clerk to
inquire about the absentee polling place locations.
By Mail
To vote an absentee ballot by mail you may
do one of the following:
·
Write a letter to the City/County Clerk where you
are registered.
·
Submit an Application for Absentee Ballot.
1. A letter of request shall be mailed to
your City/County Clerk containing the following:
·
Name under which you are registered to vote
·
Address as registered
·
Birth Date
·
Social Security Number
·
Election(s) in which you intend to vote absentee

Primary
b.
General
c.
Primary and General
·
Address to which your ballot should be mailed (for
each election you are requesting an absentee ballot), if different from
registered address.
·
Your signature
Note: If a request for an absentee ballot is made by
one person for another party (i.e. wife requests an absentee ballot for her
husband), the letter must include the above information and be signed by
all those requesting ballots.
2. Applications for Absentee Ballots shall
be mailed to your City/County Clerk.
Applications are available at the following locations:

·
U. S. Post Offices
Hawaii Revised Statutes §15-4 provides that:
"...Any
mailed requests for an absentee ballot shall be mailed by the person directly
to the clerk."
Submit your completed application directly
to the Office of your City/County Clerk no later than 7 days before the
election.
Absentee Applications/requests will be
accepted until:

Election: Tuesday, October 28, 2014
Additionally:

If there is a chance your ballot will reach your
forwarding address before your arrival, please check the box marked “Hold for
Arrival” on the Wikiwiki Absentee Application.
·
All absentee ballots must be received by the clerk
issuing the ballots no later than the close of polls on Election Day.
