FACTSHEET

DUPLICATION OF THE WIKIWIKI VOTER REGISTRATION & PERMANENT ABSENTEE FORM AND WIKIWIKI ABSENTEE APPLICATION

THE WIKIWIKI VOTER REGISTRATION & PERMANENT ABSENTEE FORM AND ITS PURPOSE

The Wikiwiki Voter Registration & Permanent Absentee Form is an affidavit on application designed to make voter registration more accessible and convenient to the residents of Hawaii. The form also provides the option to apply for permanent absentee voter status.

Completing the Wikiwiki Voter Registration & Permanent Absentee Form and mailing it directly to the Office of the City or County Clerk allows a person to register to vote and apply for permanent absentee voter status without having to visit a government office, or designated voter registration location.

Hawaii law requires that the chief election officer approve all forms used for voter registration.  Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes §11-16, registrants must register to vote via:

"the affidavit on application for voter registration or other form prescribed by the chief election officer."

For printing and duplication purposes, follow the guidelines under Hawaii Administrative Rules §3-172-23.

THE APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE VOTER BALLOT

Hawaii Revised Statues §15-2 allows any person who is a registered voter in the State of Hawaii to cast an absentee ballot by mail or in person.

In order to receive an absentee ballot by mail, a voter must submit an “Application for Absentee Voter Ballot.”

Note: This is only the application for the absentee ballot. The actual ballot must be mailed from the City/County Clerk after the application is accepted. The “Application for Absentee Voter Ballot” is the form prescribed and approved by the Chief Election Officer and Clerk, under Hawaii Administrative Rules §3-174-4.

For printing and duplication purposes, follow the guidelines under Hawaii Administrative Rules §3-174-5.
